Duty free items

Ethiopians who have been living abroad are entitled to import, duty free and duty paid personal belongings upon their permanent return to Ethiopia.

Where a letter from an Ethiopian Embassy is required, the letter should state:

The duration of their stay abroad. The fact that they have definitively returned home. Be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Returnees from countries where there is no Ethiopian diplomatic representation should submit a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirming this fact.
